Mothers experience hormonal fluctuations that affect mood, energy, and cognitive function.
Sleep disruption significantly impairs focus and decision-making.
1 in 7 mothers experiences postpartum depression.
Identity changes during postpartum impact confidence and workplace performance.
Feeding-related stress adds physical and emotional strain.
Many mothers feel pressured to “bounce back” at work before true recovery.
43% of women leave the workforce within one year of childbirth.
Maternal mental health conditions cost employers $14.2 billion annually.
Untreated postpartum depression leads to higher absenteeism and lower productivity.
Burnout and lack of maternal support contribute to quiet quitting among working mothers.

ABOUT THE FOUNDER
Meet Tameka Christmas, MPH
Maternal Wellness Educator, Public Health Strategist, & Founder of The Mama Wellness Foundation
Tameka Christmas is a maternal wellness educator, public health strategist, and the visionary behind Grey Wellness. Her work sits at the intersection of maternal mental health, postpartum recovery, and workforce stability.
Her journey into maternal wellness began after experiencing postpartum depression firsthand. Navigating that season as a single mother while juggling work, recovery, and identity shifts gave her a deep understanding of what mothers truly need: structure, compassion, culturally competent care, and real support beyond the six-week checkup.
Driven by her experience, Tameka earned her Master of Public Health, where she focused her research, training, and field work on maternal mental health, postpartum health systems, community health, and health equity. Her academic foundation allows her to blend evidence-based public health practices with practical tools that meet mothers where they are.
Through years of working with nonprofits, maternal health organizations, mental health providers, and community wellness programs, she saw the same pattern over and over:
Mothers are expected to function at full capacity with half the support and none of the recovery time.
Tameka designed Grey Wellness as a maternal wellness social enterprise to close the gap between what mothers need and what systems currently provide because she believes maternal wellness is not a luxury, it is a public health priority and a workforce necessity.
